Reliability indices evaluation of a distributor with fixed repair time omission using Monte Carlo simulation

A distributor segment has failure rate and repair time which decide mean up time (MUT) and mean down time (MDT). Usually the reliability analysis is based on exponential failure and repair laws. Certain values of repair times are smaller which may be neglected. This is known as repair time omission. Omitted repair time may be fixed. Repair time omitted in turn will affect the basic reliability indices e.g. MDT and MUT. Hence this paper describes a methodology to obtain modified mean up time, mean down time and unavailability of a distributor segment accounting the effect of repair time omission. The repair time omitted has been considered as fixed. The methodology has been implemented on a sample distributor. Statistical analysis has been presented.
